Project Extra Mile is seeking nominations for individuals & agencies that have gone the extra mile & have made extraordinary contributions toward preventing alcohol-related harms in Nebraska.
Please consider nominating an individual or organization for the following awards:
Community Advocate: A citizen who has demonstrated remarkable courage to take the lead on efforts to prevent alcohol-related harms and whose community or organization is better today due to their perseverance.
Law Enforcement Officer: An officer who has been a champion in the fight against underage and other excessive drinking to protect their community.
Law Enforcement Agency: An agency that has worked diligently to enforce liquor laws and has demonstrated a commitment to collaboration while conducting heightened alcohol enforcement efforts in the community it serves.
Media: A news organization or individual reporter that has provided clear, accurate, and in-depth coverage of the issue of excessive alcohol use and the related harms to raise awareness of the impact on communities.
LaVon Crosby Public Policy Award: A citizen, policymaker, or organization that has provided leadership in advocating for evidence-based policies and practices to prevent excessive alcohol use.
Retailer: A business owner or manager who has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to evidence-based practices to prevent excessive alcohol use, including underage drinking, in the retail environment.
Young Leader: An individual youth or group of youth that has demonstrated exemplary leadership through efforts to prevent excessive alcohol use, including underage drinking.
Going the Distance: A citizen or organization that has tirelessly gone the extra mile to prevent alcohol-related harms.
Marty Conboy Public Advocate Award: A public servant, a citizen, or organization that has provided critical leadership in Nebraska communities while advocating for effective local, state, or federal policies.
Leon Dappen Award of High Distinction: The highest award bestowed by Project Extra Mile for critical work toward achieving the organization’s mission to advocate for evidence-based policies and practices to prevent and reduce alcohol-related harms. This award is given to celebrate and honor the life of Dr. Leon Dappen, former Project Extra Mile Board of Directors President. Dr. Dappen served on the board from 1999 until 2006. Communities across Nebraska would not be what they are today without his persistent leadership and deep caring.
