Youth Leadership Council Application
We’re excited to share a unique opportunity for students to engage in a higher level of leadership. In addition to the current opportunities for students to collaborate with Project Extra Mile to prevent underage drinking and other excessive alcohol use, this initiative provides an enhanced level of training and engagement with students willing to lead.
Project Extra Mile’s Youth Leadership Council (YLC) is a statewide initiative to engage a small group of committed students as leaders in preventing underage drinking and other excessive alcohol use through proven strategies that address the environment in which youth make these decisions. The council will be made up of no more than ten students selected by a panel of educators and Project Extra Mile board and staff members who will review students’ applications.
High school students who meet the following criteria are encouraged to apply: (1) be entering grades 9-12 in the fall of 2022, (2) be willing to commit at least two hours per month to learn about preventing excessive alcohol use, (3) have an interest in citizen and civic engagement for community change, (4) commit to a high standard of role modeling for others, and (5) care about your neighbors, community and state.
If you have questions, please contact Project Extra Mile at 402-963-9047 or at info@projectextramile.org. Thank you for your interest in the YLC!
