In partnership with the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety, Project Extra Mile is coordinating two Law Enforcement Trainings, which will be held in both the Omaha area and in Grand Island. The trainings will focus on preventing and reducing alcohol-related harms through compliance checks and selective enforcements, and law enforcement representatives, prosecutors and community coalition members are welcome to attend.  Due to limited space, registrants from the law enforcement community will be given first opportunity to attend should the number of registrations exceed the number of available training spots. The registration deadline is May 1, 2017.

Training topics in the Omaha area and in Grand Island will include:

  • Planning, implementing, evaluating and communicating on compliance checks and selective enforcements
  • Research on the effectiveness of compliance checks
  • Legal issues and challenges for compliance checks
  • Building community support for compliance checks

About our Trainer:

Special Agent Nancy McGee served for more than 29 years in the Missouri Department of Public Safety—Division of Alcohol and Tobacco Control.  As a special agent stationed in the St. Louis District specializing in alcohol enforcement, McGee was responsible for enforcing Missouri’s Liquor Control Act. She was in charge of administering the state’s alcohol compliance check program as well as coordinating the department’s efforts on college campuses and with community coalition groups. She is currently a national trainer with the Pacific Institute for Research and Evaluation (PIRE).
