Law Enforcement Training

Enforcement is the cornerstone of any community's efforts to prevent underage drinking.
Without strong enforcement, progress is difficult.
Project Extra Mile is dedicated to strengthening and supporting the ability of
law enforcement to do its job and to do it effectively.

In partnership with the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety, Project Extra Mile coordinates a two-day training for law enforcement officers and prosecutors focused on youth alcohol enforcement operations. A team of eight law enforcement officers has been trained through the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention's Underage Drinking Enforcement Training Center. In addition to the two-day training, Project Extra Mile and the team will provide resources and technical assistance to law enforcement and prosecutors throughout the state.

The youth alcohol enforcement training topics include:

  • Criminal and administrative law overview
  • Party prevention and controlled party dispersal
  • Enforcement in rural communities
  • Fake IDs
  • Third party transactions and source investigations
  • Conducting compliance checks
  • Managing special events
  • Importance of community support for enforcement efforts

There is no registration fee for the training, and those interested may contact Project Extra Mile at (402) 963-9047 or via e-mail at info@projectextramile.org for more information.
