Project Extra Mile's Youth Group is a group of young people working to make a difference in their communities by challenging the adult world regarding youth issues. We encourage youth leadership in order to create longstanding change in communities.
How Is It Done?
- Testify before city councils, county boards, and the legislature to share youth perspectives and information about the alcohol laws
- Participate with law enforcement to conduct retail compliance checks
- Utilize media advocacy to get the message heard
What Makes a Youth-Led Effort Unique?
While adult partners help youth reach their goals, young people are encouraged to take the lead in solving the problem of underage drinking in their community. Young people have an uncanny ability to capture the attention of elected officials and other policy makers.
